Conflict of Interest

Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education (SJPE) is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the publication process. All authors, editors, reviewers, and other individuals involved in the publication process are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment, responsibilities, or decisions.

A conflict of interest may arise from financial, professional, personal, academic, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the conduct of research, manuscript evaluation, editorial decisions, or publication outcomes. The existence of such relationships does not necessarily indicate misconduct; however, transparent disclosure is essential to maintaining the integrity and credibility of scholarly publishing.

Disclosure Requirements

Authors must disclose all relevant conflicts of interest when submitting a manuscript to SJPE. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors must explicitly declare that they have no conflicts of interest to disclose.

Potential conflicts of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial interests: Funding, grants, consultancy fees, employment, honoraria, or other financial relationships that may influence the research or its publication.
  • Personal and professional relationships: Relationships that could affect the objectivity of the research, peer review, or editorial decision-making process.
  • Institutional affiliations: Affiliations or organizational interests that may benefit from the publication of the manuscript.
  • Academic relationships: Academic competition, collaboration, supervision, or other professional relationships involving authors, reviewers, or editors.
  • Intellectual property interests: Patents, copyrights, or other proprietary interests related to the research or its findings.

Responsibilities of Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must disclose any circumstances that could compromise, or reasonably be perceived to compromise, their impartiality in evaluating or managing a manuscript. Individuals with significant conflicts of interest must decline the relevant review or editorial assignment. The journal will take appropriate measures to ensure that manuscripts are evaluated fairly and independently.

Failure to Disclose

Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may result in appropriate editorial action, including requests for clarification, manuscript rejection, correction of the published record, or retraction of a published article, where warranted by the circumstances and applicable publication ethics standards.

Commitment to Transparency

Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education (SJPE) encourages full and transparent disclosure of conflicts of interest to protect the integrity of the peer-review process and scholarly communication. The journal is committed to ensuring that research is evaluated on its academic merit, scientific quality, and relevance to physics education, rather than on undisclosed personal, financial, or institutional interests.
