Authorship Criteria

The Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education upholds strict standards for authorship to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in scholarly publishing. Authorship is determined by substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. Administrative assistance, financial support, or other forms of indirect involvement alone are insufficient to qualify an individual for authorship.

Minimum Authorship Requirements To be recognized as an author of a manuscript submitted to Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education, each individual must fulfill all four of the following criteria:

  • Substantial Contribution: Make a significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.
  • Manuscript Preparation and Revision: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it to improve its important intellectual content.
  • Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before its submission for publication.
  • Accountability: Accept responsibility for all aspects of the work and ensure that any concerns regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Contributions That Do Not Qualify for AuthorshipIndividuals whose involvement is limited to providing financial support, collecting data without meaningful intellectual contribution, facilitating laboratory or research facilities, or performing general language editing and proofreading do not qualify for authorship on these grounds alone. Such contributions should be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript, where applicable.

Responsibilities of the Corresponding AuthorThe corresponding author serves as the primary liaison between Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education and all co-authors throughout the submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that authorship practices comply with the journal's ethical standards, including the following responsibilities:

  • Verification of Authorship Eligibility: Confirm that every listed author satisfies all four authorship criteria established by JSKE.
  • Prevention of Improper Authorship: Ensure that no individual who meets the authorship requirements is improperly excluded (ghost authorship) and that no individual is included without sufficient scholarly contribution (gift or guest authorship).
  • Approval by All Authors: Ensure that all listed authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before it is submitted to Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education.

By submitting a manuscript to Schrödinger: Journal of Physics Education, the corresponding author confirms that the authorship information is accurate and that all authors agree to the submission and the stated contributions.
