Implementation of Islamic Educational Values in the Tradition of Recitation of the Qur'an at the Wedding of the Mbojo Ethnic Community
-
Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Qur'an recitation tradition in Mbojo ethnic weddings (in Dompu, Bima, and Bima City), examine the internalization of the value of Islamic education, as well as its contribution to the religious character of the community in the midst of modernization.
Methodology: This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, reciters/reciters, brides' families, and local communities. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn.
Key Findings: The implementation of traditions varies in time and series in each region, but still maintains the main function as an event opener, a blessing requester, and a da'wah medium. The internalization of values (faith, worship, morals, muamalah) occurs through habituation, the example of reciters/reciters, and the delivery of the meaning of verses. This tradition has been proven to foster a love for the Qur'an and motivate the younger generation, although the level of appreciation of the community still varies.
Novelty/Originality: This study highlights the relevance of the Mbojo ethnic marriage recitation tradition specifically as a medium for character education based on local wisdom. The novelty lies in the discovery of structural variations in implementation in three different administrative areas as well as the articulation of the educational-practical function of conveying the meaning of the verse directly during the traditional procession, not just aesthetic pronunciation.
